Bookkeeping that speaks small business, nonprofit and plain English.

I’m April. I keep your books, run your payroll and prepare your taxes myself, and I explain all of it in words you won’t have to look up.

QuickBooks ProAdvisor Level 2. Nearly 20 years of tax prep and 10+ years of bookkeeping. Plans start at $199 a month.

April Van VoorheesOwner, April’s Bookkeeping

Two kinds of books I know well.

I’ve kept books for e-commerce sellers, restaurants, real estate and, once, a yoga studio. Here’s what I take on.

Monthly bookkeeping
Every transaction categorized, bank and credit card accounts reconciled, and a P&L and balance sheet each month.
Payroll
Accurate payroll with the right withholdings and reporting, so your team is paid on time.
Taxes
Year-end tax prep on books that are already organized, and sales tax tracked and filed.
Catch-up
Months or years behind? I reconstruct transactions, reconcile accounts and fix errors and duplicates, then keep the books current.
Trucking and fleets
IFTA reporting, per diem, fuel tax credits, settlement statements, factoring and truck depreciation, for owner-operators and small fleets. I was raised in the industry; my stepdad drives a truck.

Where the price starts, and what moves it.

Each plan has a starting price. Where you land depends on the size of your business and how much goes through the books each month.

Testimonial slot

A line from one of your small-business clients goes here: two or three sentences, with a first name and the kind of business.

A second client’s words go here, ideally from a different kind of business than Henry’s. First names only.

Better to know on the first call.

Likely a good match

  • You run a small business or a nonprofit and want to talk to the person doing your books, without portals or ticket systems.
  • You’re in the lower 48 and on QuickBooks Online, Xero, FreshBooks or Wave.
  • You’re just starting out, or months behind. Catch-up is part of the job.

Likely not a match

  • A medical or legal practice. I don’t take those on.
  • A business in Hawaii or Alaska. Their rules are outside what I know.
  • You want someone at your desk in person. I work virtually.

I keep my practice small, so openings are limited. That’s how every client keeps one-on-one attention.

The small print, in plain English.

Why “starting at”?

Because no two sets of books take the same work. I look at your monthly revenue, how many bank and credit card accounts you have, how many transactions go through each month, and any extras, like earlier statements. That sets your price at or above the plan’s starting point.

Am I locked in?

No. Every plan runs month to month. You can move up, move down or pause.

Can I pay for catch-up over time?

Yes. Catch-up projects can be paid in installments, and the books move to monthly service once they’re current.

How do we stay in touch?

By phone, text or email, whichever suits you. I work virtually with clients across the lower 48, Monday to Friday from 10am to 6pm, with evenings and weekends by appointment.

Ask me anything, no matter how small.
